
Prairie Village Museum seeking Executive Director

Prairie Village Museum is offering the right candidate an opportunity for community engagement and personalgrowth as its executive director. This is an opportunity to assist a 50-year-old county museum enter its next 50years of preserving and celebrating local history.
We are is seeking an executive director with:
• Demonstrated leadership, communication, and people skills
• Ability to plan and execute public events and programming
• Ability to manage paid staff and volunteers to perform daily operations and site maintenance and to foster a positive work climate
Core qualifications
• Experience managing paid staff and/or volunteers
• Demonstrated ability to organize, manage, and present public events
• Experience marketing an organization, programming, and/or events
• Demonstrated project management skills with a track record of leading complex projects from conception to completion
• Excellent computer skills
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Passion for preserving and presenting local history
• College degree, preferred, or related work experience
Bonus qualifications
• Experience entering information into and managing a computer database (museum uses PastPerfect)
• Experience as a museum employee or volunteer
• Experience with nonprofit fundraising
Essential duties
• Provide visionary leadership aligned with museum’s mission and long-term goals
• Oversee all operational functions, including program delivery, marketing and administrative processes• Work with board of directors to develop and implement strategic plans that promote growth, sustainability, and community engagement
• Work with board of directors and finance coordinator to
(1) create an annual budget, (2) set annual fundraising goals, and (3) help secure financial support from foundations, corporations, individuals, and government funding sources
Hours and salary
Prairie Village Museum’s executive director works full time on site during the museum’s primary season –mid-April thru mid-October – and part time in the off season. Part time schedule is flexible and may beworked off site, but the executive director must be available for on-site board meetings and other projectsthroughout the year. Salary range is $32,000 -$35,000 based on qualifications.
