Heart of America Germans From Russia

Heart of America Germans from Russia Heritage Center
Prairie Village Museum is proud to host the Heart of America Germans from Russia Heritage Center within our historic village. Heart of America Germans from Russia is a separate organization dedicated to preserving and sharing the history, culture and family stories of the German-Russian immigrants who settled throughout Pierce County and the surrounding region.
The Heritage Center helps tell the story of families whose ancestors lived in the Black Sea region of Russia before immigrating to North Dakota in search of new opportunities. Through historic artifacts, photographs, documents and interpretive displays, visitors can learn more about the traditions, challenges and experiences of these families and the important role they played in shaping our local communities.
The center also preserves family-history information, including pedigree charts and genealogical material for a number of local German-Russian families. While it is not intended to serve as a comprehensive genealogy research center, visitors with family roots in the area may discover familiar surnames, family connections and pieces of their own history among the displays.
The Heart of America Germans from Russia Heritage Center represents an important partnership in Prairie Village Museum's mission to preserve the many stories of the people who made north-central North Dakota their home.
